The wait is finally over for LaKesha Jones.

Jones joined Sumter's Habitat for Humanity and Alice Drive Baptist Church on Tuesday for a groundbreaking ceremony of Jones' new home at 1245 Habitat Drive. This is the local nonprofit's 127th build in the Sumter community since 1987 and its first home breaking ground since the beginning of the pandemic.

After being denied by Clarendon County's Habitat for Humanity in 2018, she later applied to Sumter's HFH program. When she got approved for the program this January, Jones was left speechless. At the ceremony, she said she could not believe that her dream is coming true.
