If you've ever come to shop at the Sumter Habitat for Humanity ReStore, there's a huge chance that you were greeted by the sweetest woman with a warm smile. That's our Miss Dot. Always eager to make new friends and help out any way that she can, Miss Dot has been volunteering in our ReStore for over seven years! Her "Habit for Habitat" is contagious and so is her uplifting spirit!

Tell us a little about yourself:
"I love to be around people and meet new folks. There aren't many people I don't know when they come to shop at the ReStore."
What are some of your hobbies?
"I love to have family gatherings. I have 7 children, 18 grandchildren, and 5 great-grand babies and they all come back home for the holidays. Those are my favorite times."
What does HOME mean to you?
"Home to me means safety and family."
How did you get involved with Sumter Habitat?
"In 2011 I came into the ReStore to shop one day and I noticed they had a need for some help pricing items to sell. I talked to the manager and she asked me if I would mind helping. I've been here ever since!"
Why Habitat for Humanity?
"I just love it! Its become a habitat, a "Habit for Habitat" if you will!"
What is it like to be a volunteer with Sumter Habitat? Any advice for those looking to volunteer?
"I love meeting new people and getting to know their stories, This is the perfect place for me to be. I come as often as I can and if I'm not here its usually only because I'm sick! It's a really great place to spend my time."
