Over A Hundred Homes Built....Hundreds of Lives Changed.
Find Out How You Can Help!

What is Our Blitz Build?
During the week of October 11 - 18, 2008, Sumter Habitat for Humanity will be constructing four new homes in our Fuller Gardens Subdivision. And we need YOU to participate! 2008 will celebrate our 6th Annual Fall Building On Faith Blitz Build!
Our Blitz Build will be a unique partnership of local churches, businesses and local civic organizations joining together to fully fund and build a house for local families….. As Jesus’ original disciples were charged with spreading the word about Jesus, our partners are charged with assisting in Habitat for Humanity’s mission of providing decent shelter for God’s children.

How Will The Blitz Build Work?

Every participating church, business or civic organization will be responsible for providing a portion of the costs for materials on the home and for providing several volunteers to come to the worksite to help build the home during our build week in October.
Its THAT simple. You will need to raise a little money, recruit several volunteers to assist with the building, and provide a liaison as a contact person and you’ll be ready! The liaison will work alongside our project manager to see that this experience is full of joy and blessings for everyone involved. Participating churches, businesses and civic organization are being asked to “adopt” a specific item toward the construction of the homes. Items such as lumber, windows, doors, siding, cabinets, flooring, appliances and more need to “adopted”. This will be a very high-profile event and all participants will be recognized in media coverage & signage.

What Are The Responsibilities of Sponsors?
Here is a brief list of what each participating sponsor will be responsible for:

1. Select someone to serve as a liaison between your organization and Sumter Habitat for Humanity.
2. Raise the selected amount of money needed for the item you are “adopting”. The funding will not be needed until just prior to construction beginning in October, 2008.
3. Promote the event within your church, business or civic group.
4. Recruit several volunteers to come to our worksite during the week of October 11 - 18, 2008 to pick up a hammer and help us BUILD!

What Will Habitat Provide?
We will provide the building site in our “Fuller Gardens” Subdivision, house plans, and a carefully screened partner family to work along side you, who will buy the home, once construction is complete. Habitat for Humanity employs licensed contractors who will oversee each phase of construction. We will order all materials, have them on-site, and will schedule all sub-contractors and inspections. We furnish all the necessary tools and materials needed for construction. Habitat for Humanity will also provide lunch at the work site each day during the build, in addition to a special “Blitz Build” T-shirt for each participating worker.

Want To Be A Part Of It? If your church, business, civic organization, Sunday School Class or any other entity would like to be a part of Building On Faith this fall, simply contact Sumter Habitat for Humanity at (803) 775-5767! Its that easy….our representatives will be more than happy to come and speak with your and your group about sponsorship and becoming a part of this annual Sumter tradition! Make your plans now to join us October 11 - 18, 2008 as we build together!
