All across Sumter County, many families struggle daily to provide the most basic need for their families: adequate housing. Nearly 10% of Sumter’s working families are in need of simple, decent homes. Can you imagine living in an environment without something as basic as running water—not to mention the widespread problems of pests, hazardous conditions, lack of climate control or overcrowding?

Help us give a hand up, not a hand out—to one of Sumter’s hard working families by joining us in BUILD 338.

What is Build 338?

For just $338, you can fully participate in the building of a Habitat for Humanity home along with other individuals right here in Sumter. $338 is the average amount of a monthly Habitat for Humanity house payment in Sumter County.

And in addition to becoming a financial supporter of Sumter Habitat for Humanity’s house building efforts, BUILD 338 participants may volunteer to assist with the construction of the home, working side-by-side with the future homeowners and other like-minded individuals.

Some BUILD 338 participants elect to make a personal contribution of $338 to help sponsor a home.Others use the pledge sheet included with an information packet we have to raise the sponsorship contribution. Either way, join us today and become a part of Build 338.

How do you sign up to be a part of BUILD 338?

CLICK HERE to open and print our BUILD 338 Brochure and Sign Up Form. Then simply fill out all of the information blanks and send it via fax or snail mail so we can know you are participating! Then, send in your BUILD 338 contribution (or collect contributions from your family, friends and co-workers) If you wish to volunteer your construction efforts toward BUILD 338, you will be contacted in the near future about your opportunities to come and help build! Please remember, we need your financial support prior to November 23, 2009. We will begin construction on this home (or homes if we have enough participants!) in early spring of 2010. For every 150 individuals that pledge to raise $338 for Sumter Habitat for Humanity, we can build ONE new home here in Sumter. If 300 people pledge to raise $338 each, that will allow us to build TWO homes! Encourage your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers to get involved!
